Open Graph Protocol

A protocol that enables web pages to become rich objects in a social graph.

The Open Graph protocol, originally created by Facebook, enables any web page to become a rich object in a social graph. It uses meta tags in the HTML head to define properties like title, description, image, and URL. When someone shares your link, these tags determine what preview appears. The protocol is now supported by most major platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and messaging apps.
